Bathroom Glamour
This bathroom had me at “Hello…Yellow.”

I discovered it at the home of our friends, Bill & Shirli. Their house is filled with gobs of creative energy, whimsical art, eclectic furnishings, and a friendly floor plan. Then it’s doused with the high octane levels of four kids and a collection of dogs and cats running about. To my kids, it’s a slice of heaven. To me, this bathroom is.

Bill, an avid DIYer, crafted the clean-lined black mirror frame and base cabinetry. Isn’t is cool how the chunky white vessel sinkcantilevers over the cabinets below?
The real show stopper for me is the wallpaper. The flowery plumes and the way the yellow pops against the black and white elements in the room bring a fluid and energetic vibe to the space.

It’s the perfect glam pit stop in this house of fun.
From Formica Disaster to Happily Ever After: One Reader’s Kitchen Redesign
Okay, we didn’t realize we were starting something with our “Tales of a Very Ugly Kitchen” woes, but perhaps we’ve been outdone. We daresay that this couple’s original kitchen was even uglier than ours…could that be possible?
Hi Cameron and Lisa, I love your site and have been looking for a place to showcase our fixer upper house. We bought our house about 5 years ago and knew it would be a major project and time commitment from top to bottom. We had to start with the kitchen because I LOVE to cook. To get things at least passable, we did an interim kitchen “spruce up”, not quite as extensive as yours, but it was mandatory, as you’ll see below. About 3 years later, we completely gutted the kitchen and sunporch for a completely different look. Now we have the kitchen of our dreams. Thanks for sharing our pics. Jules

Formica, paneling, vinyl floors, rubber trim...could it be any worse?

My husband has his tool bag at the ready. Keep an eye on those windows...we changed 'em to gain more cabinet space.
Here are two shots of the interim spruce up that Jules and her hubby did immediately upon moving into the house.

Painting the paneling, wallpapering and new curtains brightened things up.

We took off the formica coated sliders in favor of open shelving over the stove and bought a new fridge, but still, could not WAIT to rip it all out!
And, drumroll please, now for the incredible after.

Could this possibly even be the same space? Wow, gorgeous! We love the cozy warm tones, reclaimed ceiling height and sparkly new granite and appliances! Kudos to you stylistas!
Got a project (big or small), that you’re proud of? Do share. Send us your pics with details–btw, we love before and after pics!
